International Federation of Journalists condemns the Israeli attacks on journalists in Gaza

By now it's obvious that the Israeli Occupation Forces, not only blocking entry of journalists to Gaza, has as its consistent policy to use violence to discourage reporters from covering the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza strip.

The International Federation of Journalists issued a statement on January 7 (link to Swedish version), after two journalists had been killed in Gaza. The statement noted that the Israeli forces attack vehicles clearly marked as 'Press' or 'TV'.

The statement is ended by the following comment from the General Secretary of IFJ:
"We strongly support our colleagues in Palestine as they speak out against Israeli attacks on journalists and media outlets,' said Aidan White, IFJ General Secretary. "Israel is making a mockery of its status as a democratic country by violating international law, ignoring its own Supreme Court and showing contempt for the United Nations by defying its obligations under Resolution 1738 to protect journalists in conflict zones."
